Ljubiša Petković Charged with Contempt and Transferred to the Tribunal

Trial Chamber III today lifted confidentiality from an order in lieu of an indictment for contempt of court against Ljubiša Petković.

Petković was today transferred from Serbia to the Tribunal’s Detention Unit.

The Accused is charged with contempt due to his failure to answer the Tribunal’s confidential subpoena of 7 April 2008 to appear as a Chamber’s witness in the case of Vojislav Šešelj.

On 13 May 2008, the Trial Chamber issued a confidential order in lieu of an indictment and an arrest warrant for Petković.

An initial appearance hearing has been scheduled for 11:00am, 29 May 2008, when the Accused may enter a plea to the charges laid against him.
