I, Judge David Hunt, Pre-Appeal Judge,

NOTING the "Motion for Variance of Length of Appellant’s Brief– Defence for the Accused Zoran Zigic" filed on 20 March 2002 ("Request"), in which Zoran Zigic ("Appellant") seeks an authorisation to exceed the length of the Appellant Brief pursuant to par 7 of the Practice Direction on the Length of Briefs and Motions (IT/184 Rev 1) ("Practice Direction");

NOTING that the Appellant’s Request is based upon the number of witnesses and events on which the Appellant’s convictions were based, and on the number of alleged inconsistencies and other errors in the Trial Judgment;

NOTING that the Appellant’s Request is to exceed the page limit of the Appellant’s Brief by up to 130 pages or 39,000 words, whichever is the greater;

CONSIDERING that the prosecution will accordingly be entitled, if it so requests, to an additional page limit for its Respondent’s Brief;

PURSUANT to par 7 of the Practice Direction;

HEREBY GRANT, the Request, and;

AUTHORISE the Appellant to file an Appellant’s Brief of up to 130 page or 39,000 words.
