2 [Status Conference]

3 [Open session]

4 [The appellants entered court]

5 --- Upon commencing at 12.34 p.m.

6 JUDGE WEINBERG DE ROCA: Well, let's start by Mr. Fila.

7 Is there anything you want to raise in this Status Conference?

8 MR. FILA: [Interpretation] Your Honour, no. Let me just repeat

9 my satisfaction and say that I regret that we will not see each other

10 again.

11 JUDGE WEINBERG DE ROCA: We will see each other at the delivery

12 of the judgement.

13 Mr. Simic.

14 MR. J. SIMIC: [Interpretation] We have no particular matters to

15 raise either. We're just awaiting the judgement. Thank you.

16 JUDGE WEINBERG DE ROCA: Mr. Stojanovic.

17 MR. STOJANOVIC: [Interpretation] Thank you, Your Honour.

18 My client would like to address a few words to you, with your

19 permission, and I would also give an explanation if necessary. If you

20 could allow him to speak, but it is not really linked to the actual

21 content of the proceedings. I would be grateful.

22 JUDGE WEINBERG DE ROCA: Is it -- is it linked to the detention?

23 MR. STOJANOVIC: [Interpretation] I don't really know. He's

24 telling me it is not. I believe that it has to do with the decision of

25 this Chamber. I don't remember exactly who made this decision. And that

Page 740

1 was instructions to the Registry. And I think it has to do with the

2 Defence, and that is the reason why my client would like to say

3 something. I think that he was the one who conducted this procedure. He

4 was the one who took these -- the initiative for these administrative

5 matters, so I would like him to be able to explain.

6 [Appeal Chamber and legal officer confer]

7 JUDGE WEINBERG DE ROCA: Mr. Zigic, is this related to the

8 decision of the Registrar still pending on the payment of fees?

9 THE APPELLANT ZIGIC: [Interpretation] Yes, Your Honour.

10 JUDGE WEINBERG DE ROCA: We consulted with the Registry before

11 the Status Conference and they promised to issue a decision soon. I

12 don't know if there's anything in particular you want to add.

13 THE APPELLANT ZIGIC: [Interpretation] In that case, no. I just

14 wanted to tell you that I am under psychological pressure. Since the

15 Registry has not been paying my Defence counsel, the existence of my

16 family is in question. I have to sell the only property I have; that is,

17 my apartment, to be able to pay the enormous bills of Mr. Stojanovic.

18 These are very high amounts which I'm unable to pay, and I'm under great

19 pressure. And the Registry has still not made a decision, and I am very

20 worried about it. But in any event, if you have consulted with the

21 Registry and if the decision will be made soon, I have nothing else to

22 add except to appeal for expediency. Thank you.

23 JUDGE WEINBERG DE ROCA: Thank you very much, Mr. Zigic. After

24 the Status Conference, I will again contact the Registry and ask if there

25 is a date they can promise the decision to be issued.

Page 741

1 And as to the judgement, you heard the Presiding Judge promising

2 the judgement first as soon as possible, and then saying something about

3 autumn. So it should be in this year.

4 Does any of the parties want to add something?

5 MS. BRADY: No, Your Honour. The Prosecution has nothing further

6 to add.

7 JUDGE WEINBERG DE ROCA: Thank you.

8 Then we will miss each other after having seen so much of us the

9 last few days, and this Status Conference is adjourned.

10 --- Whereupon the Status Conference

11 adjourned at 12.40 p.m.
