THE APPEALS CHAMBER of the International Tribunal for the Prosecution of Persons Responsible for Serious Violations of International Humanitarian Law Committed in the Territory of the Former Yugoslavia since 1991 ("International Tribunal");

BEING SEIZED of the "Motion to Extend the Time Limitations for Response and Reply by the Appellant Zdravko Mucic" filed on 9 July 1999 and "Zejnil Delalic’s Motion for an Extension of Time" filed on 12 July 1999 ("Motions") whereby Zdravko Mucic and Zejnil Delalic seek an extension of time to file their Respondent’s Briefs of six weeks and one month respectively;

NOTING the Scheduling Order of 12 February 1999;

CONSIDERING the "Prosecution Response to the Motions to Extend the Time for Filing Respondent’s Briefs" filed on 14 July 1999 whereby it is submitted, inter alia, that the Motions do not provide sufficient grounds to justify a variation of the time limits but that, if the Appeals Chamber considers that there are nevertheless reasons why a extension should be granted, the Prosecution would not seek to oppose such an extension if it was granted to all parties;

NOTING the "Supplement to the Prosecution Response to the Motions to Extend the Time for Filing Respondent’s Briefs" ("Supplement") filed 16 July 1999 whereby it is conceded that remaining counsel for Zdravko Mucic will require additional time to complete the necessary work to be done on his Response and whereby further issues are raised;

BUT CONSIDERING that, as an extension of time should be granted for reasons other than the further issues raised in the Supplement, it is not appropriate to determine those further issues in the disposition of the Motions;

CONSIDERING that, because of the "Order on the Appellant Esad Landzo’s Second Motion for an Extension of Time to File Brief" of 15 June 1999 whereby Esad Landzo was ordered to file a supplementary brief on or before Monday 13 September 1999, the preparation for the appeal by the parties will not be completed until late September at the earliest;

HEREBY ORDERS that the Respondent’s Briefs be filed on or before Friday 17 September 1999 and the Appellant Briefs in Reply be filed on or before Friday 8 October 1999.

Done in both English and French, the English text being authoritative.
