 5                           --- Upon commencing at 3.31 p.m.

6             JUDGE MERON:  Please be seated.

7             Registrar, would you please call the case.

8             THE REGISTRAR:  Good afternoon, Your Honour.

11             JUDGE MERON:  Thank you.

12             I want to make sure, first, that the audio equipment is working

13     properly.

14             Mr. Perisic, can you hear me?  I take it you can hear me, right?

15     You cannot hear me?

16             THE APPELLANT: [Interpretation] I can hear now, yes.

17             JUDGE MERON:  Thank you, Mr. Perisic.

1     afternoon to all the participants in the proceedings.  My name is

2     Novak Lukic, attorney-at-law at law from Belgrade, and I shall represent

3     Mr. Perisic in this courtroom today.

4             JUDGE MERON:  Thank you, Mr. Lukic.

5             As you are aware, Rule 65 ter (B) of the Rules of Procedure and

6     Evidence requires a Status Conference to be convened within 120 days

7     after the filing of a Notice of Appeal, and, thereafter, within 120 days

8     after the last Status Conference for each Appellant in the Tribunal's

 9     custody.

10             A Status Conference serves two primary purposes.  First, it

11     allows the Appellants an opportunity to express concerns relating to

12     their appeal or detention conditions.  Second, it provides an opportunity

13     to update the Appellants with respect to the status of their case.  The

14     Status Conference is also an opportunity for the Tribunal to inquire

15     about the mental and physical condition of the detained persons.

16             In the present case, the last Status Conference was held on

17     7 March 2012.  Today's Status Conference was scheduled by an order --

18     order issued on 18 June 2012.

19             Let me therefore start the substantive part of this

20     Status Conference by inquiring into Mr. Perisic's health.

21             Mr. Perisic, if you prefer this discussion to be held in closed

22     session, please indicate and I will ...

23             THE APPELLANT: [Interpretation] Yes.  I would like to speak in

24     closed session, please.

25             JUDGE MERON:  Registrar, please close the session.

13             JUDGE MERON:  We are in open session, I take it, right?

14             THE REGISTRAR:  Yes, Your Honour, we are now in open session.

15     Thank you.

16             JUDGE MERON:  Thank you.

17             Now, I turn to the update of the case.

18             There is one confidential motion currently pending which will be

19     decided in due course.  And I would like, at this stage, ask the parties

20     whether they have any other issues that they would like to raise with me

21     at this time.

22             Let me start from the Prosecution.

23             MS. MARTIN SALGADO:  Thank you, Your Honour.  We do not have any

24     issues to raise at this point.

6     like to raise at this stage, it remains only for me to thank the parties

7     for their attendance, thank the interpreters and the Registry staff, and

8     I will call the proceedings to a close.

 9             We will now rise.
