THIS TRIAL CHAMBER of the International Tribunal for the Prosecution of Persons Responsible for Serious Violations of International Humanitarian Law Committed in the Territory of the Former Yugoslavia since 1991 ("International Tribunal"),
NOTING that the accused in these proceedings has been unable to attend court since 18 March 2003 due to ill health, characterised by high blood pressure,
NOTING the reported refusal of the accused to take the prescribed increased medication recommended by his treating cardiologist, Dr. van Dijkman,
NOTING the indication of the Trial Chamber of its intention to order medical reports and a medical hearing with respect to the purported side-effects of the medication prescribed by Dr. van Dijkman and the health of the accused,
CONSIDERING HOWEVER the information received from the Commanding Officer of the United Nations Detention Unit ("UNDU") on 25 March 2003, that the accused has agreed to take another form of increased medication that is acceptable to Dr. van Dijkman and which, it is believed, will bring the accused’s high blood pressure under control and render him fit to attend court possibly within two days,
PURSUANT TO RULE 54 of the Rules of Procedure and Evidence of the International Tribunal
HEREBY ORDERS:
Done in English and French, the English text being authoritative.
