I, RICHARD MAY, Judge of the International Tribunal for the Prosecution of Persons Responsible for Serious Violations of International Humanitarian Law Committed in the Territory of the Former Yugoslavia since 1991 ("International Tribunal"),

HAVING BEEN DESIGNATED as pre-trial Judge in this matter by virtue of an Order of the Trial Chamber dated 4 July 2001,

NOTING the designation of amicus curiae by the Registrar of the International Tribunal on 6 September 2001, as invited by the Trial Chamber in its Order of 30 August 2001,

BEING SEISED of a "Motion seeking relief of time for the Amici Curiae pursuant to the Order of the Court dated 13 September 2001" filed jointly by amici curiae on 18 September 2001 ("the Motion"), seeking, inter alia, an extension of time in which to file motions pursuant to the Rules of Procedure and Evidence of the International Tribunal ("Rules") on the grounds that the amici curiae have not yet received copies of all relevant documentation,

NOTING the Order of the Trial Chamber of 30 August 2001 directing the Registrar of the International Tribunal to provide amici curiae with "all such material as is or has been provided to the accused",

PURSUANT TO Rule 54 of the Rules

HEREBY DIRECT the Registrar of the International Tribunal as follows:

  1. immediately to provide amici curiae with copies of all material, including confidential material, provided to the accused and including, without limitation, those documents listed in paragraph 7 of the Motion; and
  2. the Registrar of the International Tribunal is not required to provide amici curiae with any filings that may have been made on an ex parte basis,

ORDER the amici curiae to maintain and preserve the confidentiality of such documents

and REMAIN SEISED of the Motion.
