Registry and Chambers:

Magdalena Spalińska, Spokesperson for Registry and Chambers, made the following statement:

Good morning,

In the case of Zdravko Tolimir, former Assistant Commander and Chief for Intelligence and Security of the Main Staff of the Bosnian Serb Army, the Defence filed its notice of appeal this Monday, 11 March. In December of last year, Tolimir was sentenced to life imprisonment for genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes committed in 1995 after the fall of the enclaves of Srebrenica and Žepa, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Prosecution will not be appealing the Judgement.

Turning to activities in the courtrooms:
   
The Appeals Hearing in the case of Nikola Šainović and others is taking place this week in Courtroom III. The hearing concludes on Friday.
   
Hearings in the trial of Radovan Karadžić continue this week and next as scheduled. The Trial Chamber is currently hearing the testimony of Stevo Pašalić, a demographics expert who is testifying about the ethnic composition of internally displaced persons and refugees from several municipalities of Bosnia and Herzegovina during 1991-1997. He is the 104th witness to be called by the Defence.

Finally a reminder that proceedings in the cases of Ratko Mladić and Goran Hadzić will resume on Monday 8 April.
