Date: 31.08.2005

Time: 12.15

Registry and Chambers:

Jim Landale, Spokesman for Registry and Chambers,
made the following statement:

Good afternoon,

I would first like to draw your
attention to the decision rendered by the Appeals
Chamber on 29 August and which we received yesterday
afternoon dismissing Kosta Bulatovic’s interlocutory
appeal of his conviction of contempt of the Tribunal.

You will recall that after his
refusal to testify in the Milosevic trial in the
absence of the accused and following a contempt hearing,
Bulatovic was found in contempt of the Tribunal on
6 May 2005 and sentenced to four months imprisonment,
to be suspended for two years on grounds of the Appellant’s
serious health problems. The full text of the decision
is available on request.

You should have received all of
the materials that we put out with regard to the
Appeals judgement in the Miodrag Jokic case. We have
further copies of the judgement and the summary read
out in court for any of you who did not receive them
yesterday.

There will be an additional hearing
in the Halilovic case this afternoon, starting at
3 p.m. in Courtroom III.

Next week the Milosevic trial will
run from Monday to Wednesday. The session on Monday
will run from 2.15 p.m. to 7 p.m. The sessions on
Tuesday and Wednesday will be, as usual, from 9 a.m.
to 1.45 p.m.

Status conferences will be held
in The Prosecutor v. Pavle Strugar on Tuesday
6 September at 2.15 p.m. in Courtroom I; in The
Prosecutor v. Mrksic, Radic and Sljivancanin
on
Wednesday 7 September at 2.30 p.m. also in Courtroom
I; and in The Prosecutor v. Ljubisa Beara on
21 September at 3 p.m. again in Courtroom I.

Office of the Prosecutor:

Florence Hartmann, Spokesperson
for the Office of the Prosecutor, made the following
statement:

Carla Del Ponte will attend, on
Thursday 1 September 2005, the Conference on the
Civilian Peace Building and Human Rights in South-East
Europe, organized by the Swiss Federal Department
of Foreign Affairs (DFA), in Berne, Switzerland.
She will also give a press conference that we be
held from 3.30 p.m. to 4 p.m. in Kursaal Bern, Mikado
Hall, Kornhausstrasse 3, 3013 Bern.
