TRIAL CHAMBER I of the International Tribunal for the Prosecution of Persons Responsible for Serious Violations of International Humanitarian Law Committed in the Territory of the Former Yugoslavia since 1991;

NOTING that the last Status Conference was held on 8 December 1999, at which time the parties were instructed to work diligently on preparing a statement of matters not in dispute, as required under Rule 65 ter, and to work in other ways on limiting the number of witnesses that must testify at trial;

CONSIDERING that the Trial Chamber plans to start this trial on 13 March 1999 or earlier if possible;

CONSIDERING that deadlines must be set very soon for the Prosecution’s submissions pursuant to Rule 65 ter (E) and the Defence’s submissions pursuant to Rule 65 ter (F);

ORDERS that a Status Conference be held in closed session on Tuesday, 8 February 2000, 10:30 a.m., with the following agenda:

1) A detailed discussion of the parties’ progress in agreeing on a statement of matters not in dispute and of contested matters of fact and law;

2) A detailed discussion of the parties’ progress in shortening their lists of witnesses and narrowing the subjects on which each witnesses will testify to those which have direct bearing on disputed issues of material fact;

3) A detailed discussion of ways in which the trial may be shortened by use of depositions, affidavits, abbreviated testimony by expert witnesses, and recognition of testimony from other proceedings;

4) Setting deadlines for the pre-trial submissions required by Rule 65ter;

NOTIFIES the parties that additional status conferences may be held as necessary on the following dates:

Thursday, 10 February 2000, 10:30 a.m.

Wednesday, 23 February 2000, 10:30 a.m.

Friday, 25 February 2000, 10:30 a.m.
