Ratko Mladić start of presentation of evidence – Accreditation procedure now open

The accreditation procedure for those members of public wishing to attend the start of presentation of evidence in the case of Ratko Mladić is now open.

The Prosecution is expected to call its first witness on Monday, 9 July at 13:00 in Courtroom I. Hearings are scheduled to be held from Monday to Friday of that week. The accreditation will be valid for the entire week. Those requesting to be accredited should clearly indicate the number of hearing days they wish to attend.

The first witness expected to be called by the Prosecution will be Elvedin Pašić who survived the execution of about 150 persons in November 1992 in the village of Grabovica in the Kotor Varos municipality in Bosnia and Herzegovina. His testimony will be followed by that of David Harland, who was a Civil Affairs Officer and Political Advisor to UNPROFOR from June 1993 until the end of the conflict. The third witness scheduled to testify that week is General Sir Richard Dannatt, former commander of UK Armed Forces. He will provide expert evidence on issues of military command and control.

Due to space limitations, all media representatives wishing to enter the court building on those days must submit an accreditation request. Accreditation requests must be submitted by Wednesday, 4 July at 16:00.

Members of the public wishing to attend the start of presentation of evidence should send an email to kralt.icty [at] un.org for more information on the procedure and space available.

Final media information and accreditation lists will be posted on the Tribunal’s website by Thursday, 5 July, in the morning.

Two different types of accreditation will be provided to as many journalists as possible: one for access to the lobby of the Tribunal and the courtroom’s public gallery and the second one for access to the Tribunal’s lobby only.

Accreditation tickets will be available for collection on Monday, 9 July from 9:00 at the gate outside the Tribunal’s main entrance.
