Dragan Obrenović transferred to Norway to serve his prison sentence

Today, 18 June 2004, Dragan Obrenovič was transferred to Norway to serve his sentence, as handed down by Trial Chamber I of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY).

On 10 December 2003, Dragan Obrenovič was sentenced to 17 years’ imprisonment (see Press Release 809e). He pleaded guilty to Count five of his Indictment, persecutions on political, racial and religious grounds, a crime against humanity on 21 May 2003, and the remaining charges were withdrawn.

Thirteen other accused are currently serving their sentences: Anto Furundžija, Hazim Delić and Esad Landžo in Finland; Duško Tadić and Dragoljub Kunarac in Germany; Stevan Todorović, Drago Josipović and Vladimir Šantić in Spain; Duško Sikirica in Austria; Zoran Vukovič and Radomir Kovač in Norway; Goran Jelisič in Italy and Biljana Plavšić in Sweden.
