ICRC completes annual inspection of Detention Unit

Last week, a delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) completed its annual inspection of the ICTY’s Detention Unit.

The ICRC has been visiting the Detention Unit on a yearly basis since 1995 to ensure that it meets the internationally recognised standards of detention. During such visits, the ICRC meets with Registry representatives and holds individual meetings with ICTY detainees.

“I am proud that the Tribunal has been able to provide the highest international standards of detention to all of its detainees”, said ICTY Registrar John Hocking.
