Nenad Banovic released from ICTY custody following an order by Trial Chamber III withdrawing his Indictment

 

  On 11 April 2002, Nenad Banovic was released from the ICTY Detention Unit  following an Order by the Judges of Trial Chamber III, Judge May presiding, withdrawing the Indictment against Nenad Banovic which was handed down in a hearing on 10 April 2002.

This followed a Prosecution Motion to the Trial Chamber dated 27 March 2002 to withdraw the Indictment against Nenad Banovic. The Motion reads “At this time, given the state of evidence and witnesses, there is insufficient evidence to proceed to trial against the accused Nenad Banovic on the significant charges of the Indictment …. the Prosecutor respectfully requests that this International Tribunal withdraw the Indictment against Nenad Banovic”.
