The Tribunal President, Judge Fausto Pocar, yesterday hosted an official visit of Franco Frattini, the European Commission Vice-President for Justice, Freedom and Security.
In the course of the meeting, Vice-President Frattini and President Pocar discussed the level of cooperation of the countries of the former Yugoslavia with the ICTY. In addition, President Pocar and Vice-President Frattini addressed the need to facilitate efficient cooperation between judicial institutions of the countries of the former Yugoslavia in war crimes cases. The
discussion focused on the role of the European Commission in facilitating such cooperation and the need for the Tribunal's assistance in the matter.
The official visit of Vice-President Frattini to the Tribunal followed an invitation issued by President Pocar after meeting the Vice-President in January of this year in Brussels.
