QUEEN BEATRIX PAYS WORKING VISIT TO ICTY

Today, Tuesday 5 October 2004, the Tribunal was honoured to host a working visit to the ICTY by Queen Beatrix of The Kingdom of The Netherlands.

As part of her visit, the Queen was the guest of honour at a closed meeting with the President of the Tribunal, Judge Meron, and the Tribunal’s Judges, where a varied and detailed discussion was held on various subjects of importance to the work of the institution. The Prosecutor of the ICTY, Carla del Ponte, also attended the meeting.

In addition, the Queen had an opportunity to sit in on an ongoing trial, and, at her request, meet and talk informally with ICTY staff members from around the world.
