MICO STANISIC, RADIVOJE MILETIC AND MILAN GVERO ON PROVISIONAL RELEASE

Late on Friday 22 July 2005, Mico Stanisic, Radivoje Miletic and Milan Gvero were provisionally released pursuant to three separate decisions rendered on Tuesday 19 July 2005 (see PR991e) by Trial Chamber II consisting of Judges Parker (presiding) Thelin and Van Den Wyngaert. Their release was ordered subject to the specific terms and conditions as detailed in the Trial Chamber's
decisions.

Following these decisions, on 20 July, the Prosecution filed two separate motions before the Trial Chamber requesting that the orders on provisional release be stayed in order to allow it time to file its appeal. These motions were rejected by the Trial Chamber on 21 July 2005.

On 22 July the Prosecution filed urgent motions before the Appeals Chamber, again to stay the decisions on provisional release to allow the Prosecutor time to appeal. These motions were rejected by the Appeals Chamber and the accused Mico Stanisic, Radivoje Miletic and Milan Gvero were provisionally released late on the night of Friday 22 July.

The Prosecution concurently filed applications for leave to appeal the decisions on provisional release. Decisions on these applications will be rendered in due course.
