Time: 11.45 p.m.

Registry and Chambers:

Jim Landale, Spokesman for Registry and Chambers,
made the following statement:

Good morning,

The Tribunal was honoured to host a visit by Queen
Beatrix yesterday morning. During the visit, the Queen was the guest
of honour at a meeting with the Tribunal’s Judges, where a varied
and detailed discussion was held on various subjects of importance
to the work of the institution. In addition, the Queen had an opportunity
to sit in on an ongoing trial, and, at her request, meet and talk
informally with ICTY staff members from around the world.

Yesterday afternoon, the President of the Tribunal,
Judge Meron, met with the President of the Republika Srpska in Bosnia
and Herzegovina, Dragan Cavic, who was also visiting the Tribunal.
In his meeting with President Cavic, President Meron again pressed
for the quick arrest of Radovan Karadzic and all other fugitives
from international justice on the territory of the RS. President
Cavic spoke of his determination to fully cooperate with the Tribunal.

In terms of the court schedule, I would like
to remind you that the Milosevic trial is due to continue on Tuesday
12 October.

The trial of Naser Oric is due to continue throughout
next week. On that note, we have copies of the new amended indictment
for those who have not yet had the opportunity to pick one up.

There will be a status conference in The Prosecutor
v. Mrksic, Radic and Sljivancanin
tomorrow at 3 p.m. in Courtroom
I.

There will be a status conference in The Prosecutor
v. Cermak and Markac
next Tuesday 12 October at 2.30 p.m. in
Courtroom I.

A list of the most recent court documents will
be available to you after this.

Office of the Prosecution:

Florence Hartmann for the Office of the Prosecutor
made no statement.

Questions:

Asked whether the Prosecutor would give a negative
report about Croatia to EU foreign ministers during her meeting
with them next Monday in Luxembourg, telling them that Croatia had
not fulfilled its obligations to the ICTY, Hartmann responded that
the Prosecutor would assess the level of cooperation Croatia had
shown to the ICTY to date.

She added that the Gotovina case was still an important
issue. She pointed out that indictees could be arrested at any time
so it was impossible to say what the situation would be on Monday.
