A closed session hearing was held on Tuesday 2 April 1996 at 9 a.m. to hear a motion filed the evening before by Mr. Zvonimir HODAK, counsel for General Tihomir BLASKIC, on the detention conditions of the defendant.

Judge Antonio Cassese, President of the Tribunal, heard the application sitting alone, under Rule 64 of the Rules of Procedure and Evidence, which provides: "Upon his transfer to the seat of the Tribunal, the accused shall be detained in facilities provided by the host country, or by another country. The President may, on the application of a party, request modification of the conditions of detention of an accused."

The Office of the Prosecutor was represented by Mr. Eric Ostberg, Senior Trial Attorney, assisted by Mr. Greg Kehoe, co-counsel.

President Cassese's decision will be announced on Wednesday 3 April at 8. 30 a.m.
