Bosnian children draw a brighter future

Sarajevo |

ICTY Outreach programme organised today a drawing and educational workshop at the 12th annual Sarajevo Kid’s Festival. Outreach is traditionally taking part in this largest independent youth event in South East Europe that gathers thousands of children from Bosnia and Herzegovina every year.

During the two-hour workshop, ICTY representative Ernesa Ademagić introduced over 60 primary school children from Sarajevo, Vogošća and Zenica to basic information about the work of the Tribunal and invited them to express through drawings their visions of justice. In their works, the children clearly expressed their desire for peace and tolerance and for a better and brighter future in line with the motto of this year’s festival.

Emina, a 12-year old girl from Sarajevo, shared her thoughts about war and its consequences: “Sometimes, I talk with my father about what happened in the war and I hope that such terrible things will never happen again. I like to draw and I’m happy that I can be part of this workshop”.
