Blaskic case: Federation Defence Minister directed to produce the subpoenaed documents or face contempt proceedings.

In an Order issued on 28 February 1997, Judge Gabrielle Kirk McDonald of the International Tribunal directs Mr. Ante Jelavic, the Defence Minister of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, to inform her of the exact location or locations of all documents contained in the Central Archive of what was formerly the Ministry of Defence of the Croatian Community of Herceg Bosna by Tuesday 4 March 1997 at 5 p.m.

In addition, he is ordered to provide the Prosecutor with immediate access to the requested documents by making the necessary arrangements to allow their inspection and copying by the Prosecutor no later than Thursday 6 March 1997 at 5 p.m.

In the event of Mr. Jelavic failing to comply with the above Order, and to ensure that the documents are not damaged, destroyed or removed, he is ordered to appear in person before the Judge on Friday 7 March 1997 at 10 a.m. "to show cause why he should not be held in contempt for failure to comply with this Order".

In her Order, Judge McDonald noted that Mr. Jelavic, in failing to produce the documents requested by Prosecutor and in failing to appear before her , as ordered by the Judge, "has obstructed the Prosecutor's investigation in the case of The Prosecutor v Blaskic".
