ICTY Weekly Press Briefing - 5 February 2014

Date: 05.02.14

Registry and Chambers:

Magdalena Spalińska, Spokesperson for Registry and Chambers, made the following statement:

Good afternoon,

On Monday, 3 February, the Prosecution filed a motion for reconsideration of the appeal judgement against Momčilo Perišić. The motions follows the recent Šainovic et al. judgement, where the Appeals Chamber rejected the earlier approach adopted by the Perišić Appeals Chamber on aiding and abetting liability. The Prosecution thus requests the Appeals Chamber to reconsider its decision to acquit Momčilo Perišić for aiding and abetting the crimes in Sarajevo and Srebrenica.

Turning to the activities in the courtrooms:

In the case of Radovan Karadžić, witness Mićo Stanišić, former Republika Srpska Interior Minister, is currently testifying. This is the 226th  witness called by the Defence. The trial is expected to continue this week and next as scheduled.
