Registry and Chambers:

Magdalena Spalińska, Spokesperson for Registry and Chambers, made the following statement:

Good afternoon,

In the Prlić and others case, Slobodan Praljak informed the Chamber on 27 January that he does not have the means to pay for his defence costs and requested the Appeals Chamber to deny the Registrar's application filed earlier this month. In addition, Praljak requested a detailed list of his Defence costs in response to the Registry admitting calculation errors. According to Praljak, these errors could possibly amount to 500,000 euros.

On 20 January 2014, the ICTY Registry requested the Appeals Chamber to order the appellant to reimburse the Tribunal in the amount of 2,807,611.10 euros for his Defence costs before the Tribunal.

The Appeals Judgment in the case of Milan Lukić and Sredoje Lukić is now available in the Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian language and can be found on our website.

Turning to the activities in the courtrooms:

In the case of Radovan Karadžić, witness Duško Jakšić is giving his testimony about the events in the area of Banja Luka and Krajina in BiH. The Defence has so far called 223 witnesses in this case. The trial is expected to continue this week and next as scheduled.

On Monday, 3 February a status conference will be held in the case of Prlić and others at 15:00 in courtroom III.
