DRAGAN JOKIC GRANTED PROVISIONAL RELEASE

Today, Tuesday 28 May 2002, the Appeals Chamber of the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia (ICTY), comprised of Judges Claude Jorda (Presiding), David Hunt, Mehmet Güney and Asoka de Zoysa Gunawardana and Theodor Meron issued a written Decision granting the provisional release of Dragan Jokic.

The Appeals Chamber ruling follows a Decision by Trial Chamber II, dated 28 March 2002, which rejected Jokic’s original motion for provisional release and a Decision by a Bench of the Appeals Chamber dated 18 April 2002, which granted leave to appeal this Decision. On 3 May 2002, Dragan Jokic filed an "Appeal of Trial Chambers [sic] Denial of Request for Provisional
Release
".

Jokic, who was released today, is required to abide by a number of specific terms and conditions set out in the Decision during his provisional release.
