TADIC CASE:

APPEALS PROCEEDINGS TO COMMENCE ON MONDAY 19 APRIL 1999

AND CONTEMPT PROCEEDINGS TO RESUME ON 26 APRIL 1999

As initially scheduled, the Appeals Chamber will open on Monday 19 April 1999 at 2 p.m. for a hearing "on the merits in the appeal, the cross-appeal (on the Judgement of 7 May 1997) and the appeal on sentencing (of 14 July 1997)".

Both Parties have filed "skeleton arguments" outlining their grounds for appeal. These documents will be made available to the public at the opening of the hearing.

Furthermore, the Appeals Chamber will resume on Monday 26 April 1999 at 10 a.m. the contempt proceedings instituted against Mr. Vujin, the accused’s prior counsel. This hearing began on 30 March 1999 but was adjourned at Mr. Vujin’s request (see Press Releases no. 388 and 390).

The Appeals Chamber consists of Judge Mohamed Shahabuddeen (Presiding), Judge Antonio Cassese, Judge Wang Tieya, Judge Rafael Nieto-Navia and Judge Florence Mumba.

Both hearings will be public, unless otherwise ordered by the Appeals Chamber.
