Kosovar high schoolers learn about the ICTY

Obiliq/Obilić, 23 March 2012

Outreach representative Shkelzen Dhomi today travelled to the town of Obiliq/Obilić in central Kosovo, where he gave a presentation on the work and achievements of the Tribunal to a group of around 30 fourth-year high school students.

The presentation lasted for two hours and Shkelzen laid out for his young audience the basics of several Tribunal cases relating to their local area, as well as giving a broader overview of the crimes committed by all sides during the Balkan conflicts.
The presentation was followed by wide-ranging discussion on topics relating to the work of the ICTY, with the students particularly keen to hear about the partial retrial in the Haradinaj et al case involving former Kosovo Liberation Army members.

At the conclusion of the event, a number of the students expressed their intention to look further into the work of Tribunal and broaden their knowledge and understanding about the role of ICTY in the region. As they left, Shkelzen provided the students with specially-prepared information materials and encouraged them to visit the Tribunal’s website and social media sites.
