Visit from the Sarajevo University

Outreach hosted one of the first visits to the Tribunal of a non-judicial character. As part of the week long visit the students received three days of various presentations about the Tribunal, meeting judges, prosecution officials, learning about the work with witnesses and the Detention Unit amongst others. Two full days were dedicated to following trials in the courtroom. The visit was extremely well received by students and contributed positively to their understanding of the work of the Tribunal.

The visit was sponsored by the University of Sarajevo

Symposium for the media from ex-Yugoslavia

This was the first large-scale event organised by the newly-established Outreach Programme. A two-day media symposium brought together journalists from the former Yugoslavia for a series of panel discussions. Senior ICTY staff gave presentations on various aspects of the Tribunal’s work, while the journalists were able to put their questions to the presenters. Outreach provided an overview of the work of the Tribunal (from its establishment, structure and organisation to the applicable law and jurisprudence) and information packages.

The event was organised by the ICTY Outreach  and  sponsored by the Coalition for International Justice (CIJ)
