Registry and Chambers:

Nerma Jelačić, Spokesperson for Registry and Chambers, made the following statement:

Good afternoon,

This morning, the Appeals Chamber rendered its judgement in the case of Dragomir Milošević, a former Bosnian Serb Army general, convicted for the crimes committed against civilians during the siege of Sarajevo. Whilst the Appeals Chamber partially upheld the Trial Chamber’s findings, it also granted Milošević’s appeal in part and reduced his sentence from 33 to 29 years’ imprisonment. The full summary of the judgement can be found online. Milošević is to remain in the Detention Unit until the President has decided on the state in which he is to serve the remainder of his sentence.

Turning now to the court schedule:

A Status Conference in the case of Milan Lukić and Sredoje Lukić has been scheduled for tomorrow at 14:15 in Courtroom III.

In the Gotovina and others case, Ivan Čermak’s defence concluded yesterday and the trial resumes with the start of Mladen Markač’s defence case on Monday, 16 November at 9:00 in Courtroom III.

Hearings in the Prlić and others case will resume on Monday, 16 November at 14:15 in Courtroom III.

The trials of Momčilo Perišić as well as Mićo Stanišić and Stojan Župljanin will continue this week and next as scheduled.

The trial of Zdravko Tolimir has been scheduled to start on Thursday, 17 December 2009 at 9:00 in Courtroom I with the Prosecution’s Opening Statements. A pre-trial conference will take place on Wednesday, 16 December 2009 at 14:15 in Courtroom I. This is the last accused in custody of the Tribunal awaiting the commencement of trial. The Tribunal is still awaiting the arrest of the last two fugitives, Ratko Mladić and Goran Hadžić.

Office of the Prosecutor:

Olga Kavran, Spokesperson for the Office of the Prosecutor, made no statement.

Questions:

Asked whether the Prosecutor submitted his report to the Security Council, Olga Kavran responded that it has not been filed yet but it is expected soon and certainly before the presentation.
